I don’t know what’s going on, but we have to fix it
Asked on radio Tuesday what he’ll tell the Giants’ new GM and coach, once they’re hired, about what changes should be made in the secondary, Collins responded, There’s only just one corner that … needs to grow, and we all know who that is. That would be the only person I would change out of our secondary group. Besides, the other two guys, (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie) and (Janoris Jenkins), I love those two guys. They play hard. They love what they do.
Jenkins and Rodgers-Cromartie, both of whom were suspended one game for violating team rules, could be candidates for release or trade once the Giants hire a new general manager and head coach. The corners have no more guaranteed money left on their contracts. Apple has two more fully guaranteed years as a first-round pick on his rookie deal, but the odds of him remaining with the Giants get longer by the day.
And I’m not saying that as the owner of the Bills; I’m saying that as a football fan. We can’t have stuff like this happening in our league.
What appeared to be a 4-yard catch by Benjamin in the corner of the end zone would have given the Bills a 16-13 lead before an extra point attempt with two seconds remaining until halftime. Instead, the touchdown was reversed, and the Bills eventually lost 37-16 after their momentum came to a screeching halt.
Another questionable call came in Pittsburgh’s controversial Week 15 loss to New England when Steelers tight end Jessie James’ potential game-winning score was overturned.
Set to begin a stretch of seven games away from home, injury-riddled Vancouver, which entered play 2-8-1 since No. 1 center Bo Horvat went down with a broken foot on Dec. 5, had a bit of a push to start the second.
Alexander Edler hit the post as the Canucks briefly crowded Miller’s crease, but Getzlaf, who missed 19 games earlier this season after taking a puck to the face, tipped home his third at the five-minute mark to make it 3-0.
